KHANTY-MANSIYSK, Russia (AFP) - Russia is committed to the non-violent resolution of long-running conflicts on its borders, President Dmitry Medvedev said Friday, in a reference to a dispute with Georgia.
"We proceed from our adherence to international law and to political, non-violent methods of resolving conflicts," Medvedev said at a news conference after meeting with EU leaders.
The comments came as the European Union is seeking a greater role in resolving tensions around the Georgian separatist region of Abkhazia, on Russia's southern border.
